What a Thanksgiving weekend!

It was a slow holiday weekend, but I am truly thankful,
for the beautiful women I spent it with.

I decided to sleep more, but still work on finishing up on my January cover shoot.

F.Y.I:
I would say the high of the weekend was my late brunch on Sunday at Essex with Kevin.
He is just as silly as I am and might I add GORGEOUS. I 'might" have a crush on my childhood family friend, but its a boundary not to cross!!! **CHEESE**

Rocking Red

The Red lip!
The red lip dates back centuries. Its a classic color, that really sets the tone for your whole outer appearance.
The red lip can speak high volumes of boldness or easily add a mild sense of perfection.
Red lipstick comes in all hues due to the amount of oranges, pinks and blue's within the color.

To find the perfect shade "for you" depends on your skin tone.

Lighter skinned toned women can sport a more coral or orange based red.

Medium skinned toned women can usually go for the true red

.
Lastly, darker skinned toned women usually enjoy the deeper burgundy red tones.

As we explore the different tones, lets remember; if it makes you feel and look good...SPORT IT!

Jem and the Holograms

Who remembers the awesome cartoon from the 80's Jem and Halograms...?
I DON'T!
I cant believe I missed out on such a creative, inventive most fashionably inclined cartoon EVER!
In the last line you could probably tell why I love it so much.

I was hanging with one of my best friends last weekend, and they mentioned if I had ever seen the cartoon as a child.
I frowned up my face as usual and mentioned "It probably was a sucky cartoon if it wasn't on my radar."
We both giggled and they mentioned I came to mind when they youtubed it, and I was going to love it from  introduction.
Of course I gave it a whirl, and I was locked in instantly. I was taken away by the colors and the fashion. I'm not a big fan of the 80's era but Jem and the Halograms were fierce characters and the make up is AMAZING!. Their hardcore representation of fashion was spot on! I'm going to step out on limb and say every outfit each character sported in the episodes is worn today.

The creator behind it Christy Maxx was genius, but I think the cartoon was a little bit ahead of its time. It lasted 3 years from 1985-1988 for a total of 65 episodes. Jem who was the lead singer of "Jem and the Holograms" assumed 2 identities to protect a secret ( the holographic computer "synergy and herself). The reason for the big secret and disguises was to support the "Starlight Music Group" and the "Starlight Foundation for Girls, " which was a foster home.
Jem and the Holograms were always trying to be upstaged by their nemesis "The Misfits." Though the Misfits were the bad girls you cant help to fall in love with there well sculpted wardrobe. KUDOS to everyone behind the scenes for this.
My friend and I battled about me taking sides, but there are no side to take. We all love the "good guys" and the "bad guys" and definitely LOVE FASHION!

This 3 season DVD is definitely on my wish list for Xmas as well as, the 6 seasons of the Golden Girls ( My favorite all time fashionably inspired show)!
Any Takers?

Amazing Day

Today was an amazing day.

I've been prepping for about a month in half for this shoot.
I was stressed out and second guessing where to go in my creativity.
I felt like my creativity was running so wild, I couldn't hold on to the images because another began to invade.
Finally I began to see a clear cut picture as the days would draw near to the day of shooting.
The day arrived and my TEAM and I were ready!

The purpose of the shoot is for Share Magazines January cover.
I styled three different looks and it was AMAZING!
I had a great team around me that totally gave their all.
It was like the make-up/hair stylist, photographer, assistants, and myself had been working
with each other for a while. Truth be told it was our first time and everyone was on point!
This day wouldn't have been such a great success without them!
I am thankful and truly blessed that God placed these incredible people in my life!

My apologies for being away for a while.
I have been swamped with shoots and stressed out TREMENDOUSLY.
Over the weekend I did a 1920's inspired mob look. The client is a huge fan of Al Capone
and wanted me to help him emulate his vision. It was a long day, but the people on set made it so fun.
I will post the pics once they are edited!

Just as I thought I would be able to clear my head and relax.
I went right into the last phases of prepping for my upcoming shoot this
Saturday. I am so excited because this shoot will be on the cover of
Sharae Magazine. The magazine did a piece on me at the beginning of the month
and now I get a chance to showcase. I've been running like crazy finalizing looks
and confirming my supporting cast. Where does the time go?

I can't wait for you guys to see what I came up with!

I am calm but my mind is running.
I am being pushed to produce something grand and nothing is making since.
Its like I know what I want, but time is limited, nothing is meshing and the due date is whispering..."You still have nothing!"
Frustrated, but determined to give "the people" what they want I continue to dive in..
This is what I signed up for and inquiring minds are ready to be dazzled by my vision.
This exert is me coming up for air...
Back into the trenches I go!

"The Row"

They first graced us with there perky smiles, beautiful blonde hair and their coined phrase " You Got it Dude"!
At that time, Full House was a smash hit and everyone across the states were hooked. I have to be honest I didn't really know they were twins until later in show! I'm sure I wasn't the only one...

Now shedding their baby and tween years Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are fashions most sought out and well kept ICONS! How can you not love them? Adore there daring styles....Or gasp at their vintage inspiring ensembles.

The Olsen Twins

They have come far with gracing their presence on television and on the red carpet. Now that they are all grown up, building their business and branding  themselves is on their minds. They launched their fashion line "The Row"  on the runways and it was a hit. They quote that their  inspiration was, " The desire to create the perfect t-shirt and have a collection of flawless basics."

The bombshell duo also has a younger line they are spiering called Elizabeth& James (named after their younger siblings), a sunglasses line, and a menswear line stirring up! The two of them are definitely on their way to building a powerful empire! I cant really think of anyone who would be able to take over in the way these ladies will!

Just one PEEP!

So I found this amazing site today called Street Peeper.

Well I didn't actually discover it, I was actually informed while on my favorite blog in the world Karlas Closet. Karla exposes me to many blogs and I must say she is only 21 and has an impeccable eye for VINTAGE. I'm definitely going to have to do a full post on her.

So back to Street Peeper!

The site is really refreshing and allows you to see an extraordinary out take on personal style. They "peep" people all over the wold such as New York (of course) LA, Paris, Tokyo and more. I gazed for hours while at work and was so inspired by each person's ostentatious ensemble's.
Street Peeper is SUPER DOPE and you guys are going to the love the site.

Its pretty crazy.
As I ponder and gaze out on how I am going to create for a shoot coming up, I get an inquiry for another shoot!
Truly grateful for the photographers and models I've worked with that refer me out, I sit and wonder. None of this is off the strength of me, but because of my faith in God to continue to move forward.
As I thank God daily and hold on to his promises, I cant help but to pull my hair out on what angle to go with while creating for my clients. I've never worked so hard and exasperated myself, mentally and physically. Its my heart that pushes me and my ideas that continuously fuel me daily.
I sit, research, visualize, and create; I'm lost in my visual and physical creations and would have it no other way. So as I continue to pull long days, become disheveled  over "looks" because I am over thinking. I continue to thank God for putting me in the right circles and opening doors I wouldn't be able to open on my own!

Bucket Bags

These babies are fashions new "go to" bag.

Rebecca Minkoff Tess Drawstring
DVF Thea

Its funny that I have had this new craved  bucket bag for about 2 years now. Its one of my FAVS and I scored it at Salvation Army. I was super stoked when I battled through the trenches and saw this golden ora of history ready to be dangled from my shoulders!

My vintage bucket bag! LOVE!

I remember these bucket bags being around in the 80's but apparently thay have been around since the 30's and werent used to be stuffed with "our most intimate secrets." The bucket bag was originally contructed to be used as wine holders. Somewhere down the line, luxury in these bucket bags was birthed and it was the  new asseccory, then and now!
